Protest Hill is the solo project of RFK Heise of System and Station. After the split of S&S RFK had a bunch of songs on the dark mellow side so with out anytime to waste he headed into the studio. He recorded 11 songs wiht Larry Crane (Elliot Smith, Sleater-Kinney, Pavement, Tape OP)at Jackpot! where RFK played Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keys, percussion and synth with extras from Seth Larson on keys and percussion. The album has yet to be released but here you can get a glimpse of the record. RFK Heise has been the singer/songwriter of System and Station for 7 years and the only mainstay as players have rotated over the years. They released 5 albums done over 16 national tours played numerous festivals including cmj- 1999,2001,2004, NWMF, PDX Popfest, Kansas City Spirit fest and many others. Shared the stage with bands such as - Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, PW Long, Alex Chilton, Meat Puppets, Shiner, The Up On In, The White Stripes, Marky Ramone and a whole lot more. Protest Hill is alot different from System and Station’s previous prog rock methods and falls more in a pop catagory. These are not your average pop tunes by any means though. The songs are simply structured yet infectiously melodic. Enjoy
