Onto the news;

We were prepared to release a vinyl version of System and Station’s ‘A Nation of Actors’ with 2 bonus tracks this past fall, however, the new songs have a different feel and signaled an opportunity to strike while hot, so an EP is on the way for late summer 09.

IfIhadAHiFi have also been busy writing when not on the road, and are preparing an EP for release in 09.

The Slats have been writing and are debuting new songs at regional shows. A new album should be ready for fall, possibly a two-disc set.

We’re happy to say we’ll be working with a couple of new bands in 2009 and one that we can mention now is Hitch, coming to us from Kortrijk / Ghent, West Flanders
Belgium (www.myspace.com/hitchrocks). Their forthcoming record is entitled ‘Clair.Obscur’ (recorded by Hein Devos, mixed by John Congleton) and is going to rip faces off, we guarantee it! Look for the album in May.

The Gunshy has been on tour in support of ‘There’s No Love In This War’ and their excellent new EP ‘I Gave Too Much Time To The Wine’ (out on Yerbird). They’ve convened a full-band to go forward and will be writing through the winter.

Finally,

Atomic Records in Milwaukee will be shutting its doors in February. To call them a Milwaukee institution is an understatement. We can’t thank them enough for their support of local and underground bands/music. On a personal level it was more than a record store obviously, a gathering place to talk about anything, a venue for intimate shows (anyone recall Billy Corgan yelling at Darcy to “keep up” during the acoustic set in 92?)…It’s difficult to find the words to properly convey our emotions on this as we’ve had many friends who worked there over the years, so we’ll just take time out to thank Rich Menning, Erik Kowalski, Dathan Lythgoe, and everyone else who worked there for their love of music, and tireless support.

Please go out and support Reckless, Hardboiled, and Rushmor!

Brief Candles are playing regional shows; catch em at Empty Bottle on 8-21, or at Kalamazooshoegazer fest w/Panda Riot on 8-23.
